Our client is based in Cameroon and is establishing a new airline with national as well as international destinations. Lufthansa Consulting has been commissioned to support the management team in becoming operational during the course of 2010.
As part of the overall project, we are looking for suitable candidates for the following position, to strengthen the Executive Management Team of this new venture:
Chief Financial Officer
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Financial Officer is responsible for all financial aspects of the airline including purchasing.
The responsibilities of the CFO include:
Directing and coordinating the company's financial affairs according to financial principles and regulations
The overall performance and operation of the accounting and finance operations, audit and the financial services functions of the company
Developing, implementing and supervising comprehensive financial and related business strategies
Developing and implementing financial operating policies in order to ensure business growth and operations effectiveness
Developing the annual operating budget and monitoring the company’s cash flow
Directing the preparation of reports that outline the company's financial position in areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present and future operations
Ensuring the definition, execution and improvement of processes in the departments of Purchasing and ICT according to trends and evolutions in airline industry
Qualifications and Experience
The CFO plays an important role in the overall success of the company; therefore the following qualifications and experience are required:
University Degree, preferably with post-grad degree, such as an MBA or PhD or comparable relevant qualifications and experiences
Ten years of progressive hands-on experience in the airline industry or in the financial industry specializing in the airline business and a minimum of five years management experience
In-depth knowledge of necessary regulatory and financial aspects of running an airline
Knowledge of designing and improving relevant airline-related financial processes
Effective interpersonal, coaching, consulting and project management skills
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Languages: English required; French preferred
First interviews with suitable candidates will be held in February and March 2010 throughout Europe.
