Project Details:
The potential expansion of a Head Office and Workshop employing about 40 people and a fleet of 100 trucks and trailers with drivers. Total compliment from 140 to 150 staff.
Job Purpose:
To start up the operation from scratch and grow it into a major player in the markets in which it operates in order to make increasing contributions to the Group performance.
Key Performance Indicators:
Develop a business strategy in consultation with the Managing Director.
Develop tactical and operational plans, budgets and targets stemming from the strategy.
Negotiate with current potential customers and identify and engage with new ones in order to build the business.
Manage the operations and maintenance of the fleet efficiently and profitably.
Manage the support functions effectively in order to ensure that their contributions are adding value including Finance, Human Resources, IT and Admin/Services.
Produce regular and accurate performance reports and monitor income and expenditure against budget.
Present strategies, plans, budgets and performance reports to the Board of Directors as and when required to do so.
Develop incentive schemes to motivate and encourage employees to perform at optimum levels.
Develop and implement a training and development programme which includes succession planning.
Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation.
Qualifications/Skills/Experience Required:
A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline which may range from Finance or Accounting to Engineering.
Minimum 10 (ten) years working experience. Experience must include exposure to long distance transport and the management of various functions within a business.
Personal Attributes:
Must be an extremely good planner and organiser.
High levels of numeracy, problem solving, analytical and communication skills.
Persuasion and negotiating skills required in order to produce sales and to motivate and develop and discipline staff, when necessary.
