The U. S. Embassy in Yaoundé is seeking an individual for the position ofPlumber Foreman.
Basic Function of PositionIncumbent provides work guidance to four plumbers and performs journeyman level plumbing work, installation, and preventive maintenance at all U.S. Government properties, including the Embassy Branch Office and the official residence in Douala. Duties include performing diagnostic inspections and repairs on all internal and external components of all plumbing related items; overseeing the day-to -day performance of four plumbers, instructing and guiding them as required; installing water heaters, water tanks, pump systems, and making sure proper installation practices are followed to include proper drain and proper system clean out.

Qualifications Required

1. Education: A GCE “O” level or CAP in Plumbing is required.
2. Experience: At least five years of journeyman plumbing technical experience with emphasis on pumping systems and controls in an international organization or a large local institution is required.
3. Language: Level III (Good Working Knowledge) Speaking/Reading/Writing English and level II (Basic Knowledge) Speaking/Reading French are required and will be tested.
4. Job Knowledge: Must have full journeyman knowledge of established practices and procedures of the plumbing trade and must be able to fully read and understand plumbing schematics on installation and repairs. Job knowledge will be tested.
5. Skills/Abilities: Must be able to train and provide work guidance to others. Must be able to use all tools of the plumbing trade such as pipe threading machines and soft welding.
SELECTION PROCESS:
When fully qualified, U.S. Citizen Eligible Family Members (USEFMs) and U.S. Veterans are given preference. Therefore, it is essential that the candidate specifically address the required qualifications above in the application.
ADDITIONAL SELECTION CRITERIA:
1. Management will consider nepotism/conflict of interest, budget, and residency status in determining successful candidacy.
2. Current employees serving a probationary period are not eligible to apply.
3. Current Ordinarily Resident employees with an Overall Summary Rating of Needs Improvement or Unsatisfactory on their most recent Employee Performance Report are not eligible to apply.
4. Currently employed U.S. Citizen EFMs who hold a Family Member Appointment (FMA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment.
5. Currently employed NORs hired under a Personal Services Agreement (PSA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment unless currently hired into a position with a When Actually Employed (WAE) work schedule.
6. The candidate must be able to obtain and hold a Locally Employed Staff security clearance.
