This position offers an outstanding opportunity to join the global team at APM Terminals and contribute to the success of the organization. The position reports to the Operations Manager. Purpose/Summary: Based at Douala International Terminal in Douala Cameroun the Deputy Operations Manager with direct report to the Operations Manager is responsible for execution of all aspects of daily operations within the terminal according to guidelines and targets as laid down by Terminal Management. Particular emphasis will be on communication with shipping line line community, landside tranporters and authorities. It is the intention that successful Deputy Operations Manager candidate will be given the opportunity to assume Operations Manager position in 6-8 months time on the condition of proven ability and satisfactory performance. Key responsibilities for this position include: • Management of the whole operations team with due regard to safety, high productivity and customer service • Develop and maintain relationships with clients, vendors and agencies • Able to substitute for Operations Manager if/when required · Ensure that the terminal vision and directions are executed at all times. Be involved in all process monitoring and consistently participate in process improvement. · Ensure that the plans as well as the strategy have been effectively communicated to every member of the team. Assign specific accountability to each department and/ or individual.
