The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Office in Yaounde is seeking two individuals for the position of Driver.
Basic Function of Position:
Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Operations, incumbent serves as chauffeur for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Yaounde. Duties include: driving vehicles (motorcycle, passenger car, station wagon) within the city of Yaounde, to and from Douala and vicinity; driving on long trips out of Yaounde; checking vehicle condition according to Motor Pool check procedures; keeping vehicle operation records and keeping vehicle clean and in presentable condition at all times; making minor repairs, changing tires as necessary and reporting other needed repairs to the Assistant Director of Operations; keeping vehicle ready for operation through checking brakes, all fluids, belts, windshield wiper blades, head and signal lamps, gasoline and tire pressure; keeping vehicle operation records, times and places of departure and arrival, mileage, gasoline and oil; keeping record of all gasoline and oil taken from the official pump or stock or purchased on the road; providing assistance to the Airport Expediter as needed.
Qualifications Required:

1. Education: First school leaving certificate plus a valid driver’s license (Categories B, C, and D) are required.
2. Experience: At least two years driving experience for an international organization or for a large local institution is required.
3. Language: Level II (Basic Knowledge) Speaking/Reading/Writing English and Level II (Basic Knowledge) Speaking/Reading French are required and will be tested.
4. Knowledge: Must know Cameroonian traffic laws and have a good knowledge of Yaoundé’s streets. Job knowledge will be tested.
5. Skills/Abilities: Incumbent must be able to perform minor preventive maintenance or repair on vehicles. Must be able to pass the pre-employment eye examination. Incumbent is expected to be highly flexible in terms of being able to work during the week and weekends to cover mission requirements.

SELECTION PROCESS:
When fully qualified, U.S. Citizen Eligible Family Members (USEFMs) and U.S. Veterans are given preference. Therefore, it is essential that the candidate specifically address the required qualifications above in the application.
ADDITIONAL SELECTION CRITERIA:
1. Management will consider nepotism/conflict of interest, budget, and residency status in determining successful candidacy.
2. Current employees serving a probationary period are not eligible to apply.
3. Current Ordinarily Resident employees with an Overall Summary Rating of Needs Improvement or Unsatisfactory on their most recent Employee Performance Report are not eligible to apply.
4. Currently employed U.S. Citizen EFMs who hold a Family Member Appointment (FMA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment.
5. Currently employed NORs hired under a Personal Services Agreement (PSA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment unless currently hired into a position with a When Actually Employed (WAE) work schedule.
6. The candidate must be able to obtain and hold a Locally Employed Staff security clearance.
